Bunting and buffet....and more fabric...no kidding.

I finished something!  I started painting this buffet a few months ago.  I took off the doors, sanded it, and primed it.  Then it sat.  And sat.  Sat sat sat.  So this weekend I decided to put on my big girl panties and finish it!

Now take a close gander and see what else I have to finish.  The wall is painted 3/4 of the way up.  The paint has been stripped from the window sill.  See at the bottom of the wall there?  Yup, the baseboard is missing.  We are in the slow 'do it yourself' process of renovating our little home.  It's a small craftsman cottage, built in 1934.  I love my house.  I don't love renovations.  But we are making slow and steady progress.  We have refinished all of the floors, my husband has replaced all of the electrical wiring and plumbing.  He also gutted and rebuilt the bathroom and kitchen.  They are now beautiful.  I really wish I could have seen the original kitchen.  When we moved in it was an unfortunate 1970's type remodel.  And not in a good way.  Anyhoo, this is a little nook inbetween the living room and the kitchen.  Mr. Precious has claimed his sunny spot.

It's too bright!!  Look at his eyes.  Doesn't he look eeeeeevil?

Fabrica 004 [1280x768]

His kitty feet don't look evil.  I love kitty feet.  Except when they track kitty litter onto my couch.

A view from the living room.  The blinds in the living room were closed so it looks super dark in there.  But the nook is shining!  Here is the bunting I made for my little K's birthday.  We decided to leave it up for the summer.

And now my dear friends.  I'm just going to lay it all out here for ya.  Prepare yourselves.

Finished my little quilt!

I finally got a little sewing in.  I've been slowly working on this quilt for quite a while.  So on Sunday after church I decided to get serious!   I set up my machine in my kitchen and lit a delicious smelling candle and got down to business. The day was cool and a bit rainy so it was perfect sewing weather!   It felt so wonderful to work on finishing this project.

This sweet quilt is a little guy so I got to finish the top and get to quilting on Sunday afternoon.

Look at my poor iron.  The bottom is taped on because I've dropped it twice.  On my wood floors.... oops.

Once the top was finished it was time to quilt!  I love my walking foot.  If you don't have one and you are planning on machine quilting anytime in the near future, you neeeeed to get one!  They help all of the layers of your quilt to feed evenly when you are doing straight stitching on your quilt.

My darling walking foot.  I love you dear.

After I finished outlining my applique and the borders, I did some random freemotion meandering and some very technical loopty loops.  Then I slapped on the binding and spent the evening handstitching it down.  This morning I stitched on the little yo-yos and she was finished!  Well, almost, the very last step for each of my quilts is a trip to the washer and dryer.  When they come out they are all puckery an antique looking.

It's pucker town.

I thought I might like to hang this little quilt in my bedroom.  I hung it on the wall above my bed (on a temporary hanger).  But I think it looks a little small and lost.  I have a very tiny bedroom, which we have squeezed a King sized bed into!  A queen would fit much nicer, but my husband would rather cut off his own arm with a butter knife than lose his HUGE bed.  Would you like to see what I'm talking about?  Come on in.

Doesn't look too bad from this angle.  But lets get a view of the Titanic in all it's splendor, shall we?

Rhodies, quilt 315

Huge.  And my poor little quilt looks like a postage stamp up there.  I guess I'll have to find a new place for it.  And of course make a bigger quilt to hang!  But I do love my vintage chenille bed spread... it makes me happy, and it fits the Titanic perfectly.  Oh, and yes, I cleaned off the side table before taking this picture.  I didn't think you needed to see my husbands medication pile.  The poor thing has a horrible cold and he needs his drugs within an arms reach.  Although I do see that I missed his almost empty t.p. roll.....for his middle of the night nose blowing episodes...... it's not pretty.

Well, thanks for visiting today my friends.  Now I'm off to tackle the huge pile of laundry that I moved into the hallway....from my bedroom floor.

A little yellow

The Cottage Magpie is hosting a color challenge!   April was yellow, perfect for spring!  I got to do a little spring planting yesterday, I can't wait to have colorful flowers sprinkled around the edges of my yard.  It's too rainy today to take pictures of the flowers soooo .... I searched around the house for some pretty yellow things......here's what I came up with:

Ready for Spring

I am so ready for Spring weather.  It's been cold and rainy here, and my flowers don't like it one bit.  My tulips are at a stand still, just waiting for warmer weather so they can show their beautiful faces.  And the others just look a bit sad in the shadows.

Where's the sun?

A local woman makes these beautiful garden ornaments out of vintage glassware.  I just love the colors of this one, I think it's sick of the rain too.....

Now brace yourselves for this next picture, it's not for the weak of heart.  It's Mr.Naughty Precious .   Playing with his favorite toy, twisted up pipe cleaners.

Shocking isn't it?  And he can be such a well mannered boy...
