Horray for cuckoo clocks! I love them, but sadly don't have a real one of my own. So to fill the little empty cuckoo clock shaped hole in my heart, I stitched one. What else could I have done when I saw this adorable pattern? I couldn't help myself.
Hi little squirrel! Don't eat that mushroom, it might be poisonous.
Now, what to make with it? I could make a little pillow, but of course my family would proceed to sit on it and smoosh the living daylights out of it. You know how it goes. You have pretty pillows on the couch, and you, in your infinite wisdom, know how to sit with the pillows. You sit down right in front of them, being mindful not to smoosh them at a weird angle. You sit in front, and then scoot back a bit, so the pillows are nestled evenly against your back. Your precious family though, sit on the front of them and then sliiiiide forward and down, so when they get up the side view of your precious pillow looks like a deformed triangle.
Next idea; a little wall quilt. Oh yes, I will be saving my precious cuckoo clocks life, and it will be forever greatful. And I think I've got just the perfect fabrics. I'm off to go on a fabric hunt. Fun! x

sew nice!! :) i love that pattern. and i TOTALLY concur with the pillow disasters. only, it is just me and the hub...and i love nice bright white things....but he is a diesel mechanic....yeah, none of that goes together! lol. can't w8 to see you cuckoo-quilt :D

I love cuckoo clocks and am lucky enough to have bought one in Germany. My current quilt project is with the Hideaway fabric from Lauren and Jessi Jung. Very cute cuckoos there, too. Great job on the embroidery!

I was sure you must have been up to something beautiful - and I was right! Your embroidery is really wonderful, and no doubt it will get turn into something incredible. Yes, no little cushion for everyone to smoosh.

Your Cuckoo Clock is adorable. A wall quilt sounds a good idea ... too pretty to get smooshed.

Sarah, you are an amazing embroiderer!! Wow. I always struggle with the satin stitch, yours are perfect! Such a cute clock! I know what you mean about the pillows...mine always need to be refluffed and restraightened. Ah well! Happy 4th, enjoy your day! xo Jen

you could NOT be any more accurate in the description of defangling and deforming a pillow that you labored over with such great care and attention to detail. ohhhh....the dread of it all! to see something loved so much just smooooshed to odd shapes not even recognized in a math book. i do believe that a quilt would be in store to give your sweet embroidered piece the love it so deserves.
i am wit you...yes, wit you..one hundred and ten percent! a girl just has to do what a girl just has to do.
