I'm so exited to have this quilt bound, washed, and up on the wall. But I don't know how long it will stay there. Cause quilts are for snuggling.
This Summer Stash challenge was so fun! Thank you Eileen and Ulla for including all of us in your challenge. This was truly a stash quilt. Every last bit of it I had already. All of the fabric, including the backing, the batting, and thread. I'm so glad I had the striped fabric that I used for the binding. I loooove this fabric. I'm thinking it will make nice pillow cases too.
And look at what my talented Mama made for me years ago. She crocheted this lovely throw. It's so beautiful and must have taken a lot of patience! I can't imagine keeping track of each row to make sure the pattern is perfect. But I'm sure it was easy for Mama, she's a super hero with a crochet hook.
And now my dear friends. I must share with you my antique mall find of the day. Yesterday my little gals and I were browsing one of our local antique/thrifty spots. And my oldest spotted this.
I started to have heart palpitations. She said, "Isn't that a vintage children's sewing machine?" I'm so proud of my 9 year old. She can spot the good stuff!
Oh glory be! Is this the sweetest thing? It's made of metal and is such a sturdy little thing.
We are going to have fun with this little gal. And the price tag? $10. I feel like the sewing machine fairy left me a present. x

Oh Sarah,
first of all the quilt is soooo amazing. It´s so beautiful on your wall behind the sofa. You must be so proud of it. You have done such a good job, congratulations and very big hugs. It´s one of the nicest quilt I have ever seen!!!!
And the sewing machine? Yes, you know that I´m in love with such little beauties. She could be a "sister" of mine, haha... And your mother is really a crocheting-hero! How long did she work on it?
Beautiful, beautiful...
Have a nice day!!

What a SWEET find and only $10! WOW!!!! I'm so happy for you and your daughters. I've been looking at these types of sewing machines on ebay for a while now and I haven't found the price I want to pay for one, quite yet. I think I'll have to hang out in our local thrift shops more often :)

What an awesome find! It's so cute! And sturdiness is definately part of the charm, I think. The quilt looks gorgeous on the wall.

Congratulations on finishing your challenge quilt! It looks great on your wall but I'm sure you will take it down when the evenings get chilly, and cuddle in it. Will you send a picture to the Flickr group as well? - Your DD found a lovely little machine for a great price. My sisters and I used to have a little green Elna, but it was hand driven.

Love, love that quilt you made and it looks great the way you have it hanging! Lucky girls to have that sweet little sewing machine. I thought I would give you an update on the baby giraffe. The name they choose for him is Maliki, which means king in Swahili!!!

Once I was able to wipe all of Doe's drool off, I could see your beautiful finished quilt. Just stunning and so neat that it's completely from your stash. You've got mad machine quilting skills too. Amazing to me that you do that on your Bernie. I am in awe and wish I had even 1/16th your talent!
What a great score on your little orange baby!
PS... my favorite thing to day after finishing a quilt to wash it, and it gets all scrunchie and cuddly!

What I love about your blog and quilting is that it isn't about making a prize winning quilt. You're projects seem to be made for the love of sewing and quilting and made for people to use and enjoy.
